eLearning Team Welcomes New GVSU Faculty – Top 10 Reminders for Fall

On August 12 and 13, the eLearning and Emerging Technologies team provided 4 LIVE welcome webinars for new faculty Lakers for the Pew Faculty Teaching and Learning Center.

WELCOME NEW GVSU FACULTY!

In this session, the eLearning team provided an eLearning GVSU Orientation. The session focused on an overview of a wide array of eLearning and Emerging Technologies services, resources, and support. Featured in this live webinar, new faculty were able to explore the benefits of using GVSU’s enterprise technologies for teaching and how to get started in using Blackboard, Panopto, Ally, Collaborate, and more! There was also be an opportunity to meet the eLearning team and to ask questions during the session.

Here are the TOP 10 REMINDERS for new faculty, getting started at GVSU this Fall!

    1. VISIT the eLearning and Emerging Technologies website for access to a wealth of resources, a plethora of webinars, and to see who we are and what we do. Remember, “we’re here to help!” Bookmark: www.gvsu.edu/elearn

    2. SIGN UP for our Fall eLearning and Emerging Technologies Webinars. We are offering over 45 sessions on 27 different topics throughout the semester. Don’t delay, sign up today in Sprout.

      Sign up to LEARN how to teach with HyFlex, expand engagement with students through Blackboard’s communication tools (announcements, email, discussion board, and LIVE Collaborate classroom web conferences), and increase flexibility for Fall by looping in a variety of GVSU supported technologies – helping to create a seamless and cohesive learning experience for students. And so much more!

    3. FOLLOW and LIKE GVSUeLearn to stay up-to-date via Twitter, Facebook, and through our Blog.
    4. ACCESS our Teaching with Technology Support website for Blackboard and Panopto Support, Tip Sheets, and Teaching with Technology at: www.gvsu.edu/elearn/help and EMAIL us at: bbadmin@gvsu.edu

      Also, don’t forget to access your Blackboard Class Photo Roster, and review information covered during the orientation, including: Assignments/Grade Center, and Respondus LockDown Browser/Monitor.

    5. REVIEW our Technology and Remote Teaching Crosswalk Guide for recommendations on tools linked to instructional needs.

    6. GET CREATIVE in the Digital Studio and Lightboard. The eLearning studio assists faculty in the creation of digital learning materials.

    7. LEARN HYFLEX TEACHING TIPS on our Teaching HyFlex and Staggered Hybrid Courses with Remote Learners web page.
       
    8. GET HELP at the IT HelpDesk, providing technical support, login, error message questions and more assistance at: www.gvsu.edu/it

    9. LOGIN to your Classroom Instructor Station. When logging into an instructor station in a classroom, you will need to use your username, followed by @OFFICE. Eg. username@OFFICE

On, Wednesday, August 7, New Faculty Orientation kicks off with over 100 faculty participating in 2 days of sessions focused on equipping and preparing new faculty at Grand Valley State University.

From 1 to 3pm, the eLearning and Emerging Technologies team will share a wealth of tips and strategies to leverage technology in teaching through break out sessions,  #EDTECH demonstrations, and consultations.
